Michael & Adam completed the Alpine Classic (12 hours of cycling and 6 tyre tubes) successfully raising $13,056 for the Breast Cancer Network Australia.

After a very eventful day where Adam blew the side wall of his rear tyre doing 50km down Tawonga Gap and then 5 more tubes through Falls Creek, and I took 10.5 hrs of riding (12 hrs in total) and a good 2.5 hrs to make the last climb up Mt Buffalo, the day finally ended across the finish line at 6.30pm last night.
Decision was made for Adam to abandon after we assessed the chances of another not so lucky blow out down Buffalo (which could be fatal) at Bright with 60km to go. I ventured on up Buffalo which was simply the toughest thing I have ever done!!
After 160km of doing Tawonga Gap (up and back) and Falls, the true test was Buffalo which simply stares down at you as you head out of Bright threatening with its immenseness.
Must say looking at the pink Breast Cancer wrist band got me up the last 12km of the 26km climb!! The heat started to kick in up Buffalo and it was somewhat dispiriting to learn that the climb was 26km instead of what I was told 19km. That extra 7km killed me.
Cramped up severely at near top so was very happy to reach the summit. In hindsight, Falls and Tawonga climbs were bloody easy compared to Buffalo!!
Thanks to all of you for your amazing generous support which has seen us raise $13,056 (incl $8800 in offline donations) for our ride to this most worthy of causes.
Yours in appreciation. Michael Sewards, Director
